<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUHoFUmtIpMxBokNnnMPcktSi7NKB1jo7nWuGErHFsVsDum_-B-oIFGr6ylFQlq9YQSa-tgoiqj3_0gah6mNRcO3whzQZelASKlyqx_NfWOZjrtQnLw3aLL_Sv_RmyxxP0ydQ7poMqfNex/s1600/keddy-vest-02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjUHoFUmtIpMxBokNnnMPcktSi7NKB1jo7nWuGErHFsVsDum_-B-oIFGr6ylFQlq9YQSa-tgoiqj3_0gah6mNRcO3whzQZelASKlyqx_NfWOZjrtQnLw3aLL_Sv_RmyxxP0ydQ7poMqfNex/s320/keddy-vest-02.jpg" width="236" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF7DBoW-dk1E1aUX0zXpu8nePRbCUEqztdV7lYE9rpSN9sd2TzkMBvhmMxzLPqGMrhhfBV6aiLQTB2q86bhZuqheKxEgadUB3_AQ0EXiXRfI30IevlcWznoXt-S0bhBAewhpMM-DQVrgsu/s1600/keddy-vest-01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhF7DBoW-dk1E1aUX0zXpu8nePRbCUEqztdV7lYE9rpSN9sd2TzkMBvhmMxzLPqGMrhhfBV6aiLQTB2q86bhZuqheKxEgadUB3_AQ0EXiXRfI30IevlcWznoXt-S0bhBAewhpMM-DQVrgsu/s320/keddy-vest-01.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm actually so proud of this vest! I made is for a teacher friend of my mom's, who wears fun, kitschy vests when teaching his kindergarten class. But the lady who used to make his vests for him retired. So he figured he'd ask me if I'd mind making this one. Of course, I said I would love to!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I had to draft the pattern from a vest he already had, which was a long process of tracing, and measuring, and marking. And taping together sheets of printer paper.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Then, when I cut out the pieces of green fabric,</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfKi_zAJjwHBRFiLXyf-vHRenKDTJrrI0AYpmvDXJfVDIzk62_GL3Cw9CUeyAKx0ntZx-oQtkWpC7JDM5fr7YGbzqQLoTFxFVT8PNCdxguixpfkhOJECNG2M65-7Jw7wAiQeB49Wn8QQXx/s1600/keddy-vest-04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhfKi_zAJjwHBRFiLXyf-vHRenKDTJrrI0AYpmvDXJfVDIzk62_GL3Cw9CUeyAKx0ntZx-oQtkWpC7JDM5fr7YGbzqQLoTFxFVT8PNCdxguixpfkhOJECNG2M65-7Jw7wAiQeB49Wn8QQXx/s320/keddy-vest-04.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I noticed that the colours on both right and wrong sides were equally as intense. So it was hard to tell the difference. Because of that, I accidentally sewed the back piece on backwards. The letters were backwards! We can't have children learning backwards letters! So I patched on new letters, the right way around. I actually like the effect. Not all the letters have been patched over, and so it creates some really interesting, and subtle dimension.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Then I cut out the air plane fabric. The teacher originally gave me a lighter blue fabric with larger, more realistic planes on it. But, once again, I wasn't paying attention, and I cut out the front panels, with the planes upside down. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
So we bought new air plane fabric.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIUS4paomy5cLgmwc9ivo5A9VzETfJtlbA8sOLAHR9X88kb-2wNrh_rLMQbvBXDPq-q5zW9z2vMn7aNIGO7OgIfVPrpa_qfD0yKNXIkEAoZxA6hsnLLPwcJV_H0SX4fYhbEMX_y8tTztwy/s1600/keddy-vest-03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgIUS4paomy5cLgmwc9ivo5A9VzETfJtlbA8sOLAHR9X88kb-2wNrh_rLMQbvBXDPq-q5zW9z2vMn7aNIGO7OgIfVPrpa_qfD0yKNXIkEAoZxA6hsnLLPwcJV_H0SX4fYhbEMX_y8tTztwy/s320/keddy-vest-03.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The planes go in all directions. So I can't mess it up. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I sewed the two sides together, inside out, turned it right-way out, and then folded under the seam allowance at the opening, and top stitched it shut. I did the same to finish the arm holes. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I even top stitched along the seams, to keep the allowances facing the right direction!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Again, like I said, REALLY proud of myself!</div>
KreativeEmmaKatehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04591407853125917227noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2164255798910059535.post-10646922157800734632013-03-29T22:56:00.002-04:002013-03-29T23:09:45.504-04:00Silk Dyed Eggs!So, this past week, I've been looking up some different ways to decorate Easter Eggs. I came across this wonderful tutorial on <a href="http://www.ourbestbites.com/2012/03/silk-dyed-eggs-aka-tie-dyed/" target="_blank">ourbestbites.com</a>. You take ugly silk ties (or any other ugly patterned silk) and wrap it around eggs, then boil them, and the pattern transfers onto the shell!<br />
<br />
As A fun afternoon activity, my boyfriend and I decided to try it out!<br />
<br />
But not before Cain tried to balance as many eggs as he could.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTF0_Y0NHYnd1SQV_vs2xoblmguDMLqBzVB-9w3vK8_tAUfUtSmtvWbWTGmluGlzT_xh6AmL-3qqeXy4_KcqErdhSNO_adChg33YaoKRVbiEfZyvnlSH0eKU0dcPnn_0KoQhejqCssSVpy/s1600/eggs-collage-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="160" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTF0_Y0NHYnd1SQV_vs2xoblmguDMLqBzVB-9w3vK8_tAUfUtSmtvWbWTGmluGlzT_xh6AmL-3qqeXy4_KcqErdhSNO_adChg33YaoKRVbiEfZyvnlSH0eKU0dcPnn_0KoQhejqCssSVpy/s320/eggs-collage-001.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
Now, since I pretty much suck at following, or even reading, instructions, I kinda just went ahead and did this project my own way, first, hollowing out two eggs, and wrapping them in fabric I was pretty sure wasn't silk, but I wanted to try it anyway.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuX8n3XjGrpA9cPGj5ER_eThmxRoRDWFp3FYfMVoMvFWvZMw89BF9ZgDtEo3cg4gdGWWYWXMcocSSBvYAiymalxZljXQ9jevWGufdGZTrUuVGFdYZaCZxwdoXQekecqseyRfINO2NRowkn/s1600/eggs-collage-005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="160" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiuX8n3XjGrpA9cPGj5ER_eThmxRoRDWFp3FYfMVoMvFWvZMw89BF9ZgDtEo3cg4gdGWWYWXMcocSSBvYAiymalxZljXQ9jevWGufdGZTrUuVGFdYZaCZxwdoXQekecqseyRfINO2NRowkn/s320/eggs-collage-005.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What I hadn't planned on was that hollow egg shells float. So we conjured up this make-shift contraption to hold them under the water.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9r_aqxDeI3qlZGl_Gwc9Q4rZAVnvp8529KD4AkiLppK_T4U8gWtknBkVpg9SnQy0P0_X-3-B9xG8uTY-DPj8a-dqxX4ht-oxTWFYcWurkud2JzvePJFPsvVUAS3mx3jls34dFMUx9u45C/s1600/eggs-006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj9r_aqxDeI3qlZGl_Gwc9Q4rZAVnvp8529KD4AkiLppK_T4U8gWtknBkVpg9SnQy0P0_X-3-B9xG8uTY-DPj8a-dqxX4ht-oxTWFYcWurkud2JzvePJFPsvVUAS3mx3jls34dFMUx9u45C/s320/eggs-006.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Those ones didn't turn out. They came out of the water just as white as they were, going in. I plan to paint them later.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So then we tried the silk ones!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqt1ua84asTIwgrMIElmzkwWr-9jYn6eYxBgeUUNzAtKC8kHO8kBpmNgaSG2gjmqM56bpC0ryopHzWEMdDnSWI5u9QqXqCCBmRYqGdQE2WJlvBzb0RC01uw9gRr098R7mF06aN61hgrFcb/s1600/eggs-007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhqt1ua84asTIwgrMIElmzkwWr-9jYn6eYxBgeUUNzAtKC8kHO8kBpmNgaSG2gjmqM56bpC0ryopHzWEMdDnSWI5u9QqXqCCBmRYqGdQE2WJlvBzb0RC01uw9gRr098R7mF06aN61hgrFcb/s320/eggs-007.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
Even before we unwrapped them, we were pretty sure something had happened, 'cause the water looked like this.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqahWUY-6N2K5tzXbxm_uLtkcgCoJk9mq1tamxuv7xXq2fRi7pyV7UTXG1Cm6kqYqO386jVR5zklE5SYqL0volvJWM69O4msLWrvWwDIT1p25hlOJnRuh7V6j82NelyjPPWUUV8Z9ht7Ds/s1600/eggs-008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjqahWUY-6N2K5tzXbxm_uLtkcgCoJk9mq1tamxuv7xXq2fRi7pyV7UTXG1Cm6kqYqO386jVR5zklE5SYqL0volvJWM69O4msLWrvWwDIT1p25hlOJnRuh7V6j82NelyjPPWUUV8Z9ht7Ds/s320/eggs-008.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
We waited for the eggs to cool and dry, and then...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcNdD_ctnFXNHfEiEtC-HBLKrfgq2YDljPoMxUVT9KECGPG_g6ngimjVY5O3XrV820mpFuFA_5j6isF0VThMHtGtEYjhd7gjNrZ_n3FcdiCszuKFamx265idwBc7qxYZdtzLLH22UGHE4_/s1600/eggs-collage-002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="160" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhcNdD_ctnFXNHfEiEtC-HBLKrfgq2YDljPoMxUVT9KECGPG_g6ngimjVY5O3XrV820mpFuFA_5j6isF0VThMHtGtEYjhd7gjNrZ_n3FcdiCszuKFamx265idwBc7qxYZdtzLLH22UGHE4_/s320/eggs-collage-002.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The eggs are so beautiful!! I was practically giggling, I was so pleased!</div>

<br />
Case in point: I made blueberry pancakes from scratch!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisegFZBj8eeipaueECzl-56UsYWgu_NisWxNyRcdiUT6_8YK0iQ9AKQDlX7APT-VaSujP9I3bzXK-ViEDm55VIvkNDNCKm0-ryWrhyttOgFvKhh4MP1xx7QVRX3G4f1yc9-STpODoRG6Cm/s1600/blueberry-pancakes-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisegFZBj8eeipaueECzl-56UsYWgu_NisWxNyRcdiUT6_8YK0iQ9AKQDlX7APT-VaSujP9I3bzXK-ViEDm55VIvkNDNCKm0-ryWrhyttOgFvKhh4MP1xx7QVRX3G4f1yc9-STpODoRG6Cm/s320/blueberry-pancakes-001.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
I DID follow a recipe. But even following a recipe I don't always succeed. So I'm still very proud of myself.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I used a mixture of all-purpose and whole wheat flour, and I used frozen blueberries.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I made enough for everyone to have a couple! And I served them with sliced almonds, and green grapes (and maple syrup, of course).</div>
<div>

The best part of this recipe is that it's really healthy. These pancakes were filling, but didn't leave you feeling bloated or like you'd eaten a dessert. I can't wait to make them again!</div>

The reason is that I've been working hard on a lot of different things, including setting up a shop on etsy.<br />
<br />
I'm going to be selling a variety of products; handmade accessories and clothing that are original designs and some refashioned/recycled pieces.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

As well as original art work and home decor pieces. Also, I'll be selling the occaissional vintage item, as I find them.<br />

It's Thursday. London Fashion Week is done and we're onto Milan Fashion week. Celebrities are being spotted, and street style is being photographed. Designers continue to show a bit of everything, classy to wacky. And I'm loving it!<br />
<br />
Unfortunately, I live in Canada and I'm broke, so I can't actually go to London or Milan. But I can experience it from afar, via the internet, and a wonderful website; <a href="http://www.style.com/" target="_blank">style.com</a>, where you can see full collections from every fashion show, right away. The fall/winter collections for this year are stunning. And I've noticed a few trends that I can't wait to try out!<br />
<br />
One trend is a colour that's been lighting up runways, left, right, and centre! Hot pink is hot for fall and I for one am looking forward to injecting a splash of fluorescent femininity into my wardrobe.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOVfF_e_lLe8em6Ri-523AY4F3sHdkLCRqNfMTJ1Qc7fr8V_2iYISy9Nl7-bDFXvMuCjODOk_lw1xHO_tsWtkZHgNSINTb59rOY76KjOr-w0PPi9z_-Gw_H6lghsNqBqDyAHqZPvrfGmuf/s1600/hotpink-giles-mcc.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="295" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOVfF_e_lLe8em6Ri-523AY4F3sHdkLCRqNfMTJ1Qc7fr8V_2iYISy9Nl7-bDFXvMuCjODOk_lw1xHO_tsWtkZHgNSINTb59rOY76KjOr-w0PPi9z_-Gw_H6lghsNqBqDyAHqZPvrfGmuf/s320/hotpink-giles-mcc.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYm3kzKxpphHVphVvjjPYEW2gNNTq44v2DXXsIxgqwYhO_mfMGf9YMmpmRR4zX0t5Jn82xR71t_O1zaJ5n4n8ufAyAmNoBmJzRj9Y4UH1EXjNU2uKkM9uQHYPqq41wBiQFNjfmy0N1fLmb/s1600/marchesa-009.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhYm3kzKxpphHVphVvjjPYEW2gNNTq44v2DXXsIxgqwYhO_mfMGf9YMmpmRR4zX0t5Jn82xR71t_O1zaJ5n4n8ufAyAmNoBmJzRj9Y4UH1EXjNU2uKkM9uQHYPqq41wBiQFNjfmy0N1fLmb/s320/marchesa-009.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But what goes with hot pink other than the obvious choices of black and white? Well,Twenty 8 Twelve, shows that purple pairs quite nicely when done in an equally vibrant shade.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYEoU8iRn6Rk-7yGRnGGSb1voBgUelihL637a0J33imDLzDyivicfF9vj7oKelxRTljFFwgRLTInP1VfBCjgtgRov7Om9F2TQu7fKMTHH8IKXLnl9kLuYtyMLnNLLzaGKPHupG8sw9QhKJ/s1600/Twenty8Twelve-007.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgYEoU8iRn6Rk-7yGRnGGSb1voBgUelihL637a0J33imDLzDyivicfF9vj7oKelxRTljFFwgRLTInP1VfBCjgtgRov7Om9F2TQu7fKMTHH8IKXLnl9kLuYtyMLnNLLzaGKPHupG8sw9QhKJ/s320/Twenty8Twelve-007.JPG" width="213" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
What I would also put with hot pink (because, why not?) would be something in metallic gold! And gold has be ALL OVER the runways lately. We've seen it as hardware on skirts and bags at Burberry Prorsum;</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK2IOBzCLAqcJN6kco7Ot07bXjMjkXFyeSOsIIXHjzvWDeeNjnHu11YgKq5tUpr5kA2tbiGYm91XVorLpXi3uTjBKZzVf-oD7yEmSsnu8tyIgOuyCpUMi1otF4H9fjZOwAwxznWg5pzMTb/s1600/gold-burberry-p.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="311" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiK2IOBzCLAqcJN6kco7Ot07bXjMjkXFyeSOsIIXHjzvWDeeNjnHu11YgKq5tUpr5kA2tbiGYm91XVorLpXi3uTjBKZzVf-oD7yEmSsnu8tyIgOuyCpUMi1otF4H9fjZOwAwxznWg5pzMTb/s320/gold-burberry-p.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Dramatic evening gowns by Giles;</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Of course, there must be a contrast to these brighter looks, and there is. Also gracing the catwalk at London Fashion Week were quite a few dark, gothic looks.</div>
<div>

This is what I love about fashion; with every season, there's so much creativity and inspiration! And there's always great new trends! </div>

<br />
A few months ago, on of those bows fell off, and I lost it.<br />
<br />
So, I made new bows for my slippers.<br />
<br />
I used scissors, a needle and thread, and 2 equal lengths of black satin ribbon.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifwAWz_NteFiu2Y_s_FTtyot2Q9A1L_yYDZdpvb15VO-1iL2wI8jMfrPhsA4lfiYspA2oH7XrY23wh6CT1C2tEhZpEebE9MJdtojAhxMuIjHN58aPpJRHReV-mpBwocffIqtyDaTqry3Hx/s1600/slippers-01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifwAWz_NteFiu2Y_s_FTtyot2Q9A1L_yYDZdpvb15VO-1iL2wI8jMfrPhsA4lfiYspA2oH7XrY23wh6CT1C2tEhZpEebE9MJdtojAhxMuIjHN58aPpJRHReV-mpBwocffIqtyDaTqry3Hx/s320/slippers-01.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The one slipper had already lost it's bow, but I had to take the bow off of the other. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkeJhnCgmuqCGhK93lBc4UxPVi6037nmGGgMJGQ3fqrp7PptjDvYqDKJ8PMVyG2bhFmzVS0o73hcC8J8gNhgEJYPZQaZVTZ5ab7oS6bVA6eqebNthteNxDpAzvC86x7CZgTUT3R3BIb4F-/s1600/slippers-02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="286" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkeJhnCgmuqCGhK93lBc4UxPVi6037nmGGgMJGQ3fqrp7PptjDvYqDKJ8PMVyG2bhFmzVS0o73hcC8J8gNhgEJYPZQaZVTZ5ab7oS6bVA6eqebNthteNxDpAzvC86x7CZgTUT3R3BIb4F-/s320/slippers-02.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I tied ribbons into bows, and adjusted them until they looked the way I wanted them to; nice and full, and even.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3_2DCOpd_9vBMtRnwPB8LXDaph0CDqFH1UdVYV1tuTrhQDkudatx_ZzHvfMOtUpsxGbr2KY1gHGJlw8MhsPAlQnlkhU68kA5c6e9Z-C61wcog9SwRinADW1ADUDNl_28qYY7s8X6Kycg2/s1600/slippers-03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3_2DCOpd_9vBMtRnwPB8LXDaph0CDqFH1UdVYV1tuTrhQDkudatx_ZzHvfMOtUpsxGbr2KY1gHGJlw8MhsPAlQnlkhU68kA5c6e9Z-C61wcog9SwRinADW1ADUDNl_28qYY7s8X6Kycg2/s320/slippers-03.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Then, I sewed from the inside of the slipper, out,</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1ps7XnaLkMifr9fT1cuxYuIStZ4Gkft-aSTxv-GyerfrJ3412unaOilWN6CHFdSiFwt84eW3tg4u-wssN0s9Fs1m8xCDcjBCQ7_uftC9DqNoObKN3tfDygRAWBUOYrk2uRw0us4zBrFzs/s1600/slippers-04.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1ps7XnaLkMifr9fT1cuxYuIStZ4Gkft-aSTxv-GyerfrJ3412unaOilWN6CHFdSiFwt84eW3tg4u-wssN0s9Fs1m8xCDcjBCQ7_uftC9DqNoObKN3tfDygRAWBUOYrk2uRw0us4zBrFzs/s320/slippers-04.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I stuck the needle through the centre of the bow,</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgU_w8yMkn936YeTJGup0QyXGv02BNMS6CLkPfoyRo2J2sqW3kgUGZKV5vD6OzI8qRyJDqZ4pB9UbHY2IBhKKaf36rV-izm1kNTm4P_ItqA9QGyghW4dLnz-tScpamyIicVJSyJGVjJLq5k/s1600/slippers-05.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgU_w8yMkn936YeTJGup0QyXGv02BNMS6CLkPfoyRo2J2sqW3kgUGZKV5vD6OzI8qRyJDqZ4pB9UbHY2IBhKKaf36rV-izm1kNTm4P_ItqA9QGyghW4dLnz-tScpamyIicVJSyJGVjJLq5k/s320/slippers-05.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And I sewed the bow down with about 3 or 4 stitches, until I was satisfied that it was secure.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Then I did the same with the second slipper.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbSHWvlhxN9JWlAC7CvV25Q_hOMuvPE2HKLd9isrIIiGmi7OaE_2uteyV-zZhjCNvLBXa8ubAjTXkPxKz4EhTIYX2_Py5vfDakaQo9llfGXj6RYhygZWJU2H0U1Kw0j-xXfv5wgkNFVlbz/s1600/slippers-06.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhbSHWvlhxN9JWlAC7CvV25Q_hOMuvPE2HKLd9isrIIiGmi7OaE_2uteyV-zZhjCNvLBXa8ubAjTXkPxKz4EhTIYX2_Py5vfDakaQo9llfGXj6RYhygZWJU2H0U1Kw0j-xXfv5wgkNFVlbz/s320/slippers-06.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And VOILA! I actually like these bows much better than the bows that the slippers came with. These are much bigger and more feminine.</div>
<div>

It's obvious, distracting, and sometimes just gross.<br />
<br />
But, unlike pimples, not all stains go away.<br />
<br />
Such was the case with one of my favourite summer dresses.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTw983WQqI-wC1L_35fWFKuncLR2QK0sYYhWqT-YJfwxoubkwEhUnDXpYSckUXX-PSyJUqBZiQHOIfrawvQmlH1AJFMB2o5vvgmgaJ7JZApS13zl3C2NTck-fFCeX6LQR7snrLzFSP64-A/s1600/beautifying-blemishes-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhTw983WQqI-wC1L_35fWFKuncLR2QK0sYYhWqT-YJfwxoubkwEhUnDXpYSckUXX-PSyJUqBZiQHOIfrawvQmlH1AJFMB2o5vvgmgaJ7JZApS13zl3C2NTck-fFCeX6LQR7snrLzFSP64-A/s320/beautifying-blemishes-001.jpg" width="242" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
You can't really tell from this photo, but this dress has (had?) a few fairly visible ink stains on the skirt and the bodice.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi21NFP6-h6MN48NwpAyNECb4wlUG3iNhLp4AFmmR014C7aUpdjntFoUxc8W1CpN3O-v0OtHsSwXcjF6ITP8M_jutFlPgI99aVK9XEB4KLSshjrunIjuMyLRMzFwUKYt0zXXWFuK1P-7TaS/s1600/beautifying-blemishes-002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi21NFP6-h6MN48NwpAyNECb4wlUG3iNhLp4AFmmR014C7aUpdjntFoUxc8W1CpN3O-v0OtHsSwXcjF6ITP8M_jutFlPgI99aVK9XEB4KLSshjrunIjuMyLRMzFwUKYt0zXXWFuK1P-7TaS/s320/beautifying-blemishes-002.jpg" width="226" /></a></div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4XsuFwyZiQYtHDF-pt6MaZYo4rVuCc6dILpd3yty8lTpGYM6_pm56Oa9Bg3mIkPMtkriIg7XixrkJBXGl2kG4Wd9QSzVoehUy1TA-WBdlhgOcxsyUmAo8W1kkzLlKxyVAqWtoIAVaJrqm/s1600/beautifying-blemishes-003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="234" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj4XsuFwyZiQYtHDF-pt6MaZYo4rVuCc6dILpd3yty8lTpGYM6_pm56Oa9Bg3mIkPMtkriIg7XixrkJBXGl2kG4Wd9QSzVoehUy1TA-WBdlhgOcxsyUmAo8W1kkzLlKxyVAqWtoIAVaJrqm/s320/beautifying-blemishes-003.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<i>Stains 1, 2, and 3, respectively.</i></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I tried every different tip I could find on how to <a href="http://www.goodhousekeeping.com/home/stain-buster/stains-ink-ballpoint-may07" target="_blank">remove ink from fabric</a> but the stains had dried and weren't going to budge. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Then, I came across a tip, in a magazine at school, that suggested fixing holes and rips by covering them with embroidery. I though that would work perfectly to cover up stains, as well!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So, sketched out some floral motifs; </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV0sc3bIb1xD_l8Nm3hm9IDUe48GNHbHU7X3bg5nklBMhyphenhyphenkqCpahhfp_c7Lt-pXrCjau6iGLDXxqVZoeL2sgewp1AUURdSyWrnjDmmsoZeMmTS_BETiXqeRd61itbTi_zZQkxRBmcFE_EE/s1600/beautifying-blemishes-005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhV0sc3bIb1xD_l8Nm3hm9IDUe48GNHbHU7X3bg5nklBMhyphenhyphenkqCpahhfp_c7Lt-pXrCjau6iGLDXxqVZoeL2sgewp1AUURdSyWrnjDmmsoZeMmTS_BETiXqeRd61itbTi_zZQkxRBmcFE_EE/s320/beautifying-blemishes-005.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And finally decided on two that I liked.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvMevmJLF2cHy3zbFK9RUys-eG8DhKd-jjtu-hfv9fKxt-9MSVx-ofBNKLtp4nB9bUjHYsbU_6Rdf3JaQzipoNbwqi_-4tCthRBLw9Eh3siWVlnTsmkTSgocO7T_kWcF2vLF5XR-SpeBPd/s1600/beautifying-blemishes-006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvMevmJLF2cHy3zbFK9RUys-eG8DhKd-jjtu-hfv9fKxt-9MSVx-ofBNKLtp4nB9bUjHYsbU_6Rdf3JaQzipoNbwqi_-4tCthRBLw9Eh3siWVlnTsmkTSgocO7T_kWcF2vLF5XR-SpeBPd/s320/beautifying-blemishes-006.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div>
Keep in mind, as I tell you about my project; </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXQSdMq5CDICH0Rf0oNztxH38SehDY-fBSrsZPu42RXTI3r3ExIcuimCM1dqjItf3tq9gWH29XFp4aXibicVw-QrLc5D0nRzkAcvvCfjQ5RQasBGKSDQCSdgu87t8ujDtXEtD6WK7-g95e/s1600/i-have-no-idea-what-i-am-doing.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXQSdMq5CDICH0Rf0oNztxH38SehDY-fBSrsZPu42RXTI3r3ExIcuimCM1dqjItf3tq9gWH29XFp4aXibicVw-QrLc5D0nRzkAcvvCfjQ5RQasBGKSDQCSdgu87t8ujDtXEtD6WK7-g95e/s320/i-have-no-idea-what-i-am-doing.jpg" width="275" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So, I spread part of the skirt over my embroidery hoop, with the stain sitting dead in the centre. I drew one of the motifs over top, and I began.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
First, the stems and leaves, in a dark, olive green.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgja66yxVon_jZRLqyfqoJHAZ0sTaKCspSJIERJN1TcVMShO03HJ7xmY0FA1KgpK32NaiDVBeFXg4y2BnPQnJZ5OQEfydHGKkE5gRNq3tlzT4_Z4gt9Ed0CKn3BZfn_XAltwFhAEC-58KKX/s1600/beautifying-blemishes-007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgja66yxVon_jZRLqyfqoJHAZ0sTaKCspSJIERJN1TcVMShO03HJ7xmY0FA1KgpK32NaiDVBeFXg4y2BnPQnJZ5OQEfydHGKkE5gRNq3tlzT4_Z4gt9Ed0CKn3BZfn_XAltwFhAEC-58KKX/s320/beautifying-blemishes-007.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Then, some princess-pink blossoms.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMmVUquGMe2DPJuw13qdjR7WVCoNTuxgOZNReni0pCmLkfcZ0RFxgq62M8xmT3klKBbz8JGtTuPpqfPICmhfCFZ4SSctpxBqqg30tCU8meNtGZh46DnN2djz86qELDYbZst-N4REKmx3nZ/s1600/beautifying-blemishes-008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhMmVUquGMe2DPJuw13qdjR7WVCoNTuxgOZNReni0pCmLkfcZ0RFxgq62M8xmT3klKBbz8JGtTuPpqfPICmhfCFZ4SSctpxBqqg30tCU8meNtGZh46DnN2djz86qELDYbZst-N4REKmx3nZ/s320/beautifying-blemishes-008.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And a white french knot in the centre.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhReTqXHdV8k_l9OGZz-6XHVRgWQWfa2um7uGnWlWJTZPnNlakCfmMxYxr-fC5RvRtdV9csiqAAtejDzdCr5Fqm_lhuXMlaJD057iqLJ8Gu3X9XGTNOWaGgEdNrup8SY-bCPOUSXeD2ZKo6/s1600/beautifying-blemishes-009.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhReTqXHdV8k_l9OGZz-6XHVRgWQWfa2um7uGnWlWJTZPnNlakCfmMxYxr-fC5RvRtdV9csiqAAtejDzdCr5Fqm_lhuXMlaJD057iqLJ8Gu3X9XGTNOWaGgEdNrup8SY-bCPOUSXeD2ZKo6/s320/beautifying-blemishes-009.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I also started putting flowers elsewhere on the skirt.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtd_wpcXjEM9sm0lj8danK5xzQVhm9HyIS0mUOYySTKhz8qqjRHXClrPdJKIyTkg-gJ1DGhBhMgCC5TtQfvdWDtw4o-Qnki1RdQg_S_2Hmrkz3RZw4cgVVeYx_tz8sDrvwsurH9rXt88GO/s1600/beautifying-blemishes-010.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtd_wpcXjEM9sm0lj8danK5xzQVhm9HyIS0mUOYySTKhz8qqjRHXClrPdJKIyTkg-gJ1DGhBhMgCC5TtQfvdWDtw4o-Qnki1RdQg_S_2Hmrkz3RZw4cgVVeYx_tz8sDrvwsurH9rXt88GO/s320/beautifying-blemishes-010.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
For the bodice I decided I'd use multiple, tiny french knots. So far, I've done three.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhadtfXeDaAdotZ_m8765h72u47DxmzBZY1dsEbUAcy5DnimiCRnP1gyqq3pvk2TWCTPbOaQ53Xste8y3UZ38KdhFgC1n4vBUR52INWH0LA4WFGVuRxcJANAM9DR41qIaNdeiaIv5HuZg0a/s1600/beautifying-blemishes-011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhadtfXeDaAdotZ_m8765h72u47DxmzBZY1dsEbUAcy5DnimiCRnP1gyqq3pvk2TWCTPbOaQ53Xste8y3UZ38KdhFgC1n4vBUR52INWH0LA4WFGVuRxcJANAM9DR41qIaNdeiaIv5HuZg0a/s320/beautifying-blemishes-011.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But the entire bodice WILL be covered in little dots. It WILL be!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This is how the dress looks now.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEK0WZFT_v4WcCfWFP4NK53PKUMlzMRPz3-ZbcmR5LjBr6lIh0WDCCjEs9hcXSl5GoO5dzINBcfVFzS4yU4gtyUpE4GmKhLLoJ96ck535uIGMJw6AlwqnuGBv-lr5UoABXR3VHDL8dp2JW/s1600/beautifying-blemishes-012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEK0WZFT_v4WcCfWFP4NK53PKUMlzMRPz3-ZbcmR5LjBr6lIh0WDCCjEs9hcXSl5GoO5dzINBcfVFzS4yU4gtyUpE4GmKhLLoJ96ck535uIGMJw6AlwqnuGBv-lr5UoABXR3VHDL8dp2JW/s320/beautifying-blemishes-012.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Not a HUGE difference, I know. I only added three tiny dots and a few small flowers. And one of those flowers is hidden behind a pleat. But this is a work in progress. I plan on doing about an hour of embroidery each night and I should have it all ready in time for when the warm weather returns. </div>

But I never really understood the story; what it was about or how it went. But tonight, with my mom and dad, I went to see it. And, in my opinion, it is a masterpiece!<br />
<br />
The music is so heartfelt and beautiful. Unlike some musicals, where the musics distracts from the story, in Les Mis, the music really adds to it.<br />
<br />
Scenes that I think are sheer perfection?<br />
<br />
Well, this scene, of course:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWj9Xnt45d1ljLLGCYDP5cX76gxtagPtnhPUZTlTNIDNXfH2oIyH0Tl3-QaKVZHkuvYYRra0noXtsyAkKIl9fVQORaJKL91JF2c43a058309nV1JDEco-hflRUE9Q4X3WWbG1JswJ95K56/s1600/les-mis-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="195" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjWj9Xnt45d1ljLLGCYDP5cX76gxtagPtnhPUZTlTNIDNXfH2oIyH0Tl3-QaKVZHkuvYYRra0noXtsyAkKIl9fVQORaJKL91JF2c43a058309nV1JDEco-hflRUE9Q4X3WWbG1JswJ95K56/s320/les-mis-001.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
Anne Hathaway singing "I Dreamed A Dream" after her character has had to resort to prostitution to support her beloved child that she never gets to see. I cried.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Also, the scene after the battle at the barricade, where the bodies of the revolutionaries are lined up, and Javert pins his medal to that little boy's vest. Again, I cried.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Then, the next scene taking place in that horribly destroyed tavern; Marius singing about his friends and how he hopes their sacrifice was not in vain.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijVrDeOhsaREKm52I0B4kxdfQCYzHxljQYlSqceeDNsRhIMdz9YFVYS-LQDyCNBIAPYnOAER216pO21dVC1kiR2LdEV6_FpmZkRYGNTFLTSFusGHE6GFk8hr7mvug42Sh7ht-Ccc6OCE8h/s1600/les-mis-002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="174" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEijVrDeOhsaREKm52I0B4kxdfQCYzHxljQYlSqceeDNsRhIMdz9YFVYS-LQDyCNBIAPYnOAER216pO21dVC1kiR2LdEV6_FpmZkRYGNTFLTSFusGHE6GFk8hr7mvug42Sh7ht-Ccc6OCE8h/s320/les-mis-002.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Who could NOT cry when seeing such a beautiful face in so much pain?</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And, of course, I love the message of the movie; that everyone needs a second chance, and everyone needs mercy and grace, because no one's perfect and everyone has their struggles. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
All in all, I now understand my fathers obsession, and now I share it.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>

Well, it's practically already worthless. But they're everywhere! We find pennies in between couch cushions, in pants pockets. If we can't pay for things with them, what do we do with them?<br />
<br />
My inspiration came from <a href="http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2012/11/tattoo-shop-owner-tiles-floor-with-250000-pennies/">this story</a> about a Pittsburgh man who tiled the floor of his tattoo shop with pennies.<br />

I wasn't about to re-tile my floor, but I figured I could find other ways to use the copper coins to decorate. The easiest, cheapest, and most versatile thing to do was to make penny wall art.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKv_7PuWFOyjprb0swfU-k3Lit9p5zApnBqy5hwMMN3wGOsefcF3eftot6nGeBH4lxMSQzaA47mfNTbF9BACj8UbOOz6hDDj8Ymjs9xvznVgm-Nq-BZUK57u9ZF8xNK75gAqRDD9Nxl6dq/s1600/penny-picture-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiKv_7PuWFOyjprb0swfU-k3Lit9p5zApnBqy5hwMMN3wGOsefcF3eftot6nGeBH4lxMSQzaA47mfNTbF9BACj8UbOOz6hDDj8Ymjs9xvznVgm-Nq-BZUK57u9ZF8xNK75gAqRDD9Nxl6dq/s320/penny-picture-001.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And here (Of course) is how I did it!<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Materials:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
- an 8" x 10" canvas - mustard yellow acrylic paint. - metallic gold paint</div>
<div>
- a paint brush - a glue gun - enough pennies to cover the canvas</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Step 1:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Paint the canvas with the base colour. In my case, that would be the mustard coloured paint.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhr6kNpm9TM4v2h9X_TjgGPoLdFQWJy50a3eUDzbYwR8gpj55bjNGE5yt7UbxSa6LYNekl_aBFY4sn1y6VTHi9tAE1WwB9zHQxrl-OdJjEu62SfLVSJAGON6K7V95rQnKNlqdD77i1uZuy5/s1600/penny-picture-005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhr6kNpm9TM4v2h9X_TjgGPoLdFQWJy50a3eUDzbYwR8gpj55bjNGE5yt7UbxSa6LYNekl_aBFY4sn1y6VTHi9tAE1WwB9zHQxrl-OdJjEu62SfLVSJAGON6K7V95rQnKNlqdD77i1uZuy5/s320/penny-picture-005.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Let that dry.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Step 2:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Paint on the metallic paint. Remember to paint the edges as well for a neat finish.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu97NskvyOR7bzXsaXeMvE9wgJKZl7cXr92UG_fZZG7A67qUF_sOXG06nUnpBE6bJINwt2EgxwhR_EN2CgFCAUpysnyIpGNuuXhyphenhyphenfqVOFf71-ZjiCbjpaZdIOnTNjZ0yASPpDjiEXYxHXh/s1600/penny-picture-006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgu97NskvyOR7bzXsaXeMvE9wgJKZl7cXr92UG_fZZG7A67qUF_sOXG06nUnpBE6bJINwt2EgxwhR_EN2CgFCAUpysnyIpGNuuXhyphenhyphenfqVOFf71-ZjiCbjpaZdIOnTNjZ0yASPpDjiEXYxHXh/s320/penny-picture-006.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Step 3: </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Glue on the pennies in rows. Don't worry about making the rows even or using pennies that are all the same level of lustre. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSn_Y-_ClbpyY6bX7yfVLeag-FxAqXfj4SRfZJikTnsQ0pxpYA_cI_V8ZVLeVLEv9ekUCh4qlSKpuJpOYEwTQsDY2WWCWtSlpeOEF40AE24BDnxKb2l8AUBG6LFHb1t8C6MExYoXAr2n56/s1600/penny-picture-009.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSn_Y-_ClbpyY6bX7yfVLeag-FxAqXfj4SRfZJikTnsQ0pxpYA_cI_V8ZVLeVLEv9ekUCh4qlSKpuJpOYEwTQsDY2WWCWtSlpeOEF40AE24BDnxKb2l8AUBG6LFHb1t8C6MExYoXAr2n56/s320/penny-picture-009.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I really quite like the result. I think it would look great on a shelf, with a smaller, framed picture leaned up against it. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Fun Fact!</b> On the Canadian penny, when the portrait of the queen is right side up, the maple leaf emblem on the other side is also right side up. Meanwhile, on the American penny, the opposite is true; when Abraham Lincoln's portrait is right side up, the image of the memorial on the other side is upside-down.</div>

<br />
I had first semester exams, and I was really busy with those. Thankfully they"re done now.<br />
<br />
So NOW what's keeping me busy is my college applications. I'm applying to fashion design programs at various schools, and for the one I have to send in a supplemental package.<br />
<br />
In that package I have to include some fashion illustrations. One evening wear design, a casual skirt and top combo, a casual pants and top combo and then a design of my choice.<br />
<br />
So far, my ideas for the evening wear include these dresses.<br />
<br />

That last one would be made of black and white Chinese brocade, and would have silver coloured frog closures at the back. And, yes, her arm looks like an alien tentacle.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
But those drawings were done months ago, and lately most of my drawings have only been quick sketches for my own purposes, or technical drawings; patterns and such. So i have to get back in the swing of it.<br />
<br />
Here's me, getting back in the swing of it.<br />

<br />KreativeEmmaKatehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04591407853125917227noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2164255798910059535.post-47407846454722188882013-01-14T19:59:00.000-05:002013-01-14T19:59:27.895-05:00Starting Another SamplerI'm seriously loving embroidery right now. I find it so relaxing, and at the same time I'm creating something. something pretty! I finished my first sampler already, as you saw, and now I'm already experimenting. This next sampler with be one really big spiral. I'm going to use all different stitches, in different shades of blue on light blue cotton.<br />
<br />
I started with a backstitch<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFLcnim48gKegrwuZU95DcJgb72xbb1-nazVtfQEWKIPIM8HsZv2FFQXQdALRB8UdFBTqdTw0juhrpM9sUGITJ9g2OXVNYLtfW9uiX48BtT-qYripUwx5U1upGDHPU2KST_uNwlAY6GMNw/s1600/spiral-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjFLcnim48gKegrwuZU95DcJgb72xbb1-nazVtfQEWKIPIM8HsZv2FFQXQdALRB8UdFBTqdTw0juhrpM9sUGITJ9g2OXVNYLtfW9uiX48BtT-qYripUwx5U1upGDHPU2KST_uNwlAY6GMNw/s320/spiral-001.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Then I did a running stitch, then a long backstitch</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwQsDt6QV1cAQavl1GSPVEId2-_jvK8B5yrAzqtalycpBE-n34nNnqmI6vBD-ViqaV8yby-hb0XEcM3gCS7tX61hyphenhyphenqnSi6CdMVtmeS_actuvDDakTsagx0I10LoQVBUcKMwuo5ujfGLbox/s1600/spiral-002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwQsDt6QV1cAQavl1GSPVEId2-_jvK8B5yrAzqtalycpBE-n34nNnqmI6vBD-ViqaV8yby-hb0XEcM3gCS7tX61hyphenhyphenqnSi6CdMVtmeS_actuvDDakTsagx0I10LoQVBUcKMwuo5ujfGLbox/s320/spiral-002.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Unfortunately, with exams coming up I haven't been able to work on it much, because the majority of my time is spent studying and finishing assignments. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I can't wait for exams to be through so I can get back to my sewing.</div>

<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me! Happy birthday, happy birthday! Happy birthday to me!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I am now 19 years old. Old enough to legally drink alcohol, and... well that's about it. I had a great birthday! I went out for Thai food with my family, and we went back home for cheese cake afterwards. There's me, with the cheesecake. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
My birthday was on Wednesday, but my party was last night. I had 3 of my closest friend over and we has a 50's themed celebration. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Us girls dressed up in big, circle skirts, and red lipstick. My one friend had a real, vintage poodle skirt! It was soo cool!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc7x3CUb2NslY7Pb1Q_2thabEVqFBAz_eag-fA4ycP01PEW9jQuHOoNNMmFuQ3cd3Ygg4ZFIlQW1TSX3rk7DZ5K4Iro6pbrg5QjSRD1k0QdNJk-EDP32hmx6HCdppbQbxwLHO-6wlL6wjj/s1600/19-bday-004.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhc7x3CUb2NslY7Pb1Q_2thabEVqFBAz_eag-fA4ycP01PEW9jQuHOoNNMmFuQ3cd3Ygg4ZFIlQW1TSX3rk7DZ5K4Iro6pbrg5QjSRD1k0QdNJk-EDP32hmx6HCdppbQbxwLHO-6wlL6wjj/s320/19-bday-004.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
We got my boyfriend to wear an actual belt, and tuck his shirt in. Then we combed his hair back a la Fonzie! </div>
<div>
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div>
We had a lovely, blue cake, with sugar pearls.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvBChXq6I4rb4BqDWEE95KxzC4r_ZBRWIJbd9_HWsxW8Zwg4pzkxVFi__JqFLWvQhihn7SWD7gpB8G1ZMzsItfndE_3JLZ-NESQ-rNKQn0EaqlQnfrqwpfKSc-h-hbzRuYcUeNCMnCVLeV/s1600/19-bday-006.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvBChXq6I4rb4BqDWEE95KxzC4r_ZBRWIJbd9_HWsxW8Zwg4pzkxVFi__JqFLWvQhihn7SWD7gpB8G1ZMzsItfndE_3JLZ-NESQ-rNKQn0EaqlQnfrqwpfKSc-h-hbzRuYcUeNCMnCVLeV/s320/19-bday-006.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And a lovely photo with that cake.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjnaHjvucZMOBlTSzydu7Rvpqe8tCmv6awSs6HyVCPdBdCF9vUr14G2ui3FIeO6yzHDxFXMoI1CGjn9yULmtNBvFrgF1eCnJveR1tBflFPe7RPmS0vC1ViJDeINBAqT4AzPXuQ5eiLvyk0/s1600/19-bday-017.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjjnaHjvucZMOBlTSzydu7Rvpqe8tCmv6awSs6HyVCPdBdCF9vUr14G2ui3FIeO6yzHDxFXMoI1CGjn9yULmtNBvFrgF1eCnJveR1tBflFPe7RPmS0vC1ViJDeINBAqT4AzPXuQ5eiLvyk0/s320/19-bday-017.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
They're great.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
It was a great party! We drank root beer floats, played Snakes and Ladders, Pin The Tail On The Donkey, and we had a Pinata!</div>
<div>

So we just tore it open. I think that's the logical next step.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And, for my birthday, I got some E.L.F makeup and some new nail polish. I'm all set to make myself glamorous! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
A very good start to my 20th year of life.</div>

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2Obufa0p_BbVGNPLivnCvZkBuWBhYJBGgDjkVPm9ctQAtCRkQPBqARnuSIMkJJIj_gddNWghKVm_255Ttgt0ZZ-SaF5qnib3OINIWk_9RKF_EuBJkZMNNvIyIWRGwYwztYk5Eiqh-ZqeI/s1600/embroidery-002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="308" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2Obufa0p_BbVGNPLivnCvZkBuWBhYJBGgDjkVPm9ctQAtCRkQPBqARnuSIMkJJIj_gddNWghKVm_255Ttgt0ZZ-SaF5qnib3OINIWk_9RKF_EuBJkZMNNvIyIWRGwYwztYk5Eiqh-ZqeI/s320/embroidery-002.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I think it's quite pretty.</div>
<div>
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div>
I used another 5 stitches to finish this; 1- a daisy stitch. 2 - a french knot. 3 - long and short stitches. </div>
<div>
4 - a satin stitch. 5 - a seed stitch.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipdHfM9MtuxLSN9XgE0at9_pLn_l7Z3Pp7Q9m8sY86YhcUOdgKH2XR34We9X9FYaf3kB9DBAWha3eTQ2j2RpGOp5EMV5jUaS98eqOjut1pCnB1CtijhOYSgB8hQKpGgk9Nl3_66YsqD90l/s1600/embroidery-collage-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="160" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipdHfM9MtuxLSN9XgE0at9_pLn_l7Z3Pp7Q9m8sY86YhcUOdgKH2XR34We9X9FYaf3kB9DBAWha3eTQ2j2RpGOp5EMV5jUaS98eqOjut1pCnB1CtijhOYSgB8hQKpGgk9Nl3_66YsqD90l/s320/embroidery-collage-001.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The daisy stitch and the french knot are offcially my favourites. The silk stitch looks really nice, but I don't like that it uses up so much thread. Personally, I think the seed stitch it silly, though it is useful.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
To learn how to do a french knot, I watched this tutorial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bezNWJgBe0o</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The same lady did all the tutorials that I learned from. Though I watched her tutorial for the satin stitch, I did my satin stitch differently; she outlined hers first with a split stitch, but I outlined mine with a basic backstitch. I didn't want my hearts to be quite so puffy.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm already working on another sampler, but I'm doing rounds instead of rows/patches. I will, of course, post photos.</div>

And now I am learning. <br />
<br />
So I've learned 3 stitches so far; the running stitch, the backstitch, and the split stitch.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1yeFTpo0VNwXo7zb7hhtDoGPlAzFS0eRRmp6_ZNWsrWFDVaw6WbJ0lVxnxsHPR2kIU4JYVUA5tAVFUHS_rTpdYRIeMLlkXQ96cfJOVHpKtXod9_WRYAbZNzdOq-LRBIrA-lkybLWW6-d0/s1600/embroidery-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj1yeFTpo0VNwXo7zb7hhtDoGPlAzFS0eRRmp6_ZNWsrWFDVaw6WbJ0lVxnxsHPR2kIU4JYVUA5tAVFUHS_rTpdYRIeMLlkXQ96cfJOVHpKtXod9_WRYAbZNzdOq-LRBIrA-lkybLWW6-d0/s320/embroidery-001.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<i>1- running stitch 2- backstitch 3- split stitch </i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<i><br /></i>
<i></i><br />
<a name='more'></a><i><br /></i></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
The running stitch is just a basic stitch, with even stitches. The backstitch involves doubling back to create a line without gaps. The split stitch is going back, under the stitch and coming back up through the previous stitch.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I've been learning via youtube video tutorials by <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dgDzhXrIt6s">Wendi Gratz</a>. They're pretty easy to follow. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I'm starting to learn some more stitches. The next one is the chain stitch. </div>
KreativeEmmaKatehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04591407853125917227noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2164255798910059535.post-37679809132840590832013-01-01T21:24:00.001-05:002013-01-14T20:02:58.149-05:00Happy Hand-Me Downs!I wasn't kidding when I said that I'm always getting old clothes from friends. Just today I received 2 grocery bags filled with stuff! Like, a LOT of STUFF. And I can't wait to see what I can do with it all!<br />
<br />
So I brought the bags inside, and Skyler and I went through them.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmWCea5P_25ds2S7nQfJdbWYnOgn5YGc2OQ2Ee6wIkoizPjEJm5vHG2DXh_rrSLUOUR5dly_rMO2ywsmImJ1y5GkRvPPmM67VFywECqh9arBOprjkDbzgh6Z75AnJJmj4527G1zmIT_o8X/s1600/from-elise-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjmWCea5P_25ds2S7nQfJdbWYnOgn5YGc2OQ2Ee6wIkoizPjEJm5vHG2DXh_rrSLUOUR5dly_rMO2ywsmImJ1y5GkRvPPmM67VFywECqh9arBOprjkDbzgh6Z75AnJJmj4527G1zmIT_o8X/s320/from-elise-001.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Skyler just dug straight to the bottom of the bag.<br />
<br />
The verdict on what we found is pretty much half and half. Some of it is really cute. Some of it will definitely have to be recycled/upcycled. Some of it is headed straight for the trash.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
Almost everything seemed to come in twos...<br />
<br />
I got:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
A couple silk nightshirts.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The pink one is really cute and I'm going to keep it as is. But the white one is too big, and therefore will be refashioned.</div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
A gold beaded belt. A brown, elastic belt. And a little, black purse.</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I think the gold, beaded belt will probably be a sash on a dress. I don't know what to do with the other two.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And this white, long-sleeved shirt:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzxQqqNRuybPeYuBzcX7pRjdAXKvi-EDlZKBkrfxBDERFWZSI5FuPr6GMoSVcGMP8qsoIuCqP-5H176QY3xcv0b3gu-vj58HVOQgwaTYvKVCCHIdXDDZ-DLU12pcCeyhyphenhyphenis9MKg__r8Xj_/s1600/from-elise-017.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhzxQqqNRuybPeYuBzcX7pRjdAXKvi-EDlZKBkrfxBDERFWZSI5FuPr6GMoSVcGMP8qsoIuCqP-5H176QY3xcv0b3gu-vj58HVOQgwaTYvKVCCHIdXDDZ-DLU12pcCeyhyphenhyphenis9MKg__r8Xj_/s320/from-elise-017.jpg" width="240" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have no idea what I'm going to do with this.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So, I think the white nightshirt may become a blouse, and the remnants will be used as trim and accents. The pyjama bottoms.. I have no clue. I've been experimenting with turning bottoms into skirts, so that's an option. Or, I could do, with the purple bottoms, what I did with those <a href="http://kreativeemmakate.blogspot.ca/2012/11/bleach-splattered-tank-top.html">bleach splattered sweatpants</a> that I had, back a few months ago.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The silk blouses may need to be taken in, since my friend likes her shirts to fit looser than I like them to. The two, felt hats, and sweaters will be used as is. The straw hat... Maybe I'll make it into a clutch.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
These are the materials for upcoming DIY's. I'll be brainstorming, and you'll see the results soon.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Happy New Year! Until next time.</div>

It's early Christmas morning, and I'm so proud that I managed to finish all the gifts in time.<br />
<br />
Dad's scarf is a bit worse for wear, as I had begun to run out of white yarn, so I had to use a lot more black, and as I was close to finishing I realised I didn't know how to properly cast off. So I improvised a crocheted casting off. It looks.... asymmetrical...<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
Mom's gift proved to be much more difficult and time consuming to make than I had anticipated, and it doesn't quite match my vision... I hope she likes it.<br />
<br />
Cain has no idea what his gift is. Well, maybe that's not entirely accurate; he has ideas; hat, scarf, socks, or mittens. But 2 of those (socks and mittens) I've never made before, and scarves take forever to make, and he hasn't seen any evidence of me working on a second scarf. That makes sense, because I didn't make him a scarf. But it IS something to keep you warm outside. Specifically your hands..<br />
<br />
I'll post photos later today.KreativeEmmaKatehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04591407853125917227noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2164255798910059535.post-35787103953763462252012-12-21T00:19:00.000-05:002013-01-14T20:01:19.968-05:00Painted Personalized Metallic Mugs Continuing with the DIY Christmas gifts, I'm giving my parents personalized mugs. My dad loves coffee and my mom loves hot chocolate. Mugs are perfect.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
And here's a tutorial so you can make your own!</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Materials:</b> -a plain mug (I'm using 2) -2 different paints. One metallic and one non-metallic base colour </div>
<div>
-a paper plate -a paintbrush -scissors -tape -letter stencils -hairspray</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXvPFBjxsuu-2e8BtLuudORzyw0Ca-_U03gN-DSAybjT-Vz-3ayB2A01FlE_rKQJ9741pGCGvGjZ2QGE7nhmnUNribgAk7tZgWXgd-Xp40P_ygWuZQ4rp-O2lp2nYfI2DCnHSpZMaCxlfT/s1600/personalized-mugs-collage-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="213" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXvPFBjxsuu-2e8BtLuudORzyw0Ca-_U03gN-DSAybjT-Vz-3ayB2A01FlE_rKQJ9741pGCGvGjZ2QGE7nhmnUNribgAk7tZgWXgd-Xp40P_ygWuZQ4rp-O2lp2nYfI2DCnHSpZMaCxlfT/s320/personalized-mugs-collage-001.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i>My dog kinda chewed the handle of my scissors </i></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i></i></span></div>
<a name='more'></a><span style="font-size: x-small;"><i><br /></i></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>Step 1.</b> Print off the desired letter, and cut it out. You want to be as careful as possible to not cut slits past the outline of the letter, but no worries; if you do, you can just tape over the slits. Like I did.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQe0kD2sttrFkL5K-b6s35WwSmDpnF-HNtwKKop44E7c5_q2bVvAcu3-GOg-AypZweiixU6Rcm0W5q6LH4Z3bUv9CEJgy_O_cOw3jogm4tUaqU0HSPNFMQuM8ysXueWuCcONGjFj3WWcFZ/s1600/personalized-mugs-005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="253" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgQe0kD2sttrFkL5K-b6s35WwSmDpnF-HNtwKKop44E7c5_q2bVvAcu3-GOg-AypZweiixU6Rcm0W5q6LH4Z3bUv9CEJgy_O_cOw3jogm4tUaqU0HSPNFMQuM8ysXueWuCcONGjFj3WWcFZ/s320/personalized-mugs-005.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Step 2.</b> Tape the stencil onto the mug, and paint on the first, non-metallic coat of paint. If you're using a letter that has a hole in it, like and R or B, to tape on the middle of the hole, roll a piece of tape into a tube and stick it to the back of the paper. Leave the paint to dry.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD2z58gVP8BsypbYjaopH8-Wk8WL-i2iu0hfTb2noFYGuekxd4mBtd9Mk5HNQ0laof6T7MC1jZJLg9okbaVURWucVKZ5jRT27aGZx9XDxU21bMUAR2u3KJhpzTKtNoR-Qhmsq6IgE9YqPB/s1600/personalized-mugs-collage-002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="180" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiD2z58gVP8BsypbYjaopH8-Wk8WL-i2iu0hfTb2noFYGuekxd4mBtd9Mk5HNQ0laof6T7MC1jZJLg9okbaVURWucVKZ5jRT27aGZx9XDxU21bMUAR2u3KJhpzTKtNoR-Qhmsq6IgE9YqPB/s320/personalized-mugs-collage-002.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Step 3.</b> Apply the second, metallic, coat of paint. Leave it to dry.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH-iItxLmxPOG_Qn6hkxLaMVaUY6qJybxrypvO-fhaOAZWT-IOzysY63PYiDGHzGRzX9XuWi4yEH1lb-3DtpKwTkEG0xC7XIheobnwIJygsWYK0n3lb8E6PMczSCdlIIXPG_14D2oMF4ls/s1600/personalized-mugs-009.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH-iItxLmxPOG_Qn6hkxLaMVaUY6qJybxrypvO-fhaOAZWT-IOzysY63PYiDGHzGRzX9XuWi4yEH1lb-3DtpKwTkEG0xC7XIheobnwIJygsWYK0n3lb8E6PMczSCdlIIXPG_14D2oMF4ls/s320/personalized-mugs-009.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i>That baseball player is very excited about this project. </i></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;"><i><br /></i></span></div>
<div>
<b>Step 4.</b> When the paint is nearly dry, remove the stencils. The paint may peel. If so, simply paint over any spots that have peeled off.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh7ATbV3HmddZOVPN2ucI-WtDDpjUu5AVcZi9cVqm63NPJXRz_5eDxH9B5j9bE1-DQXGZvNZ2fInXEZUUN4mEq18K48ZeVhTJbk_NbZg02jxnQYmYg8e42sBywVoEJJHhK5xxjzjWUwMdw/s1600/personalized-mugs-collage-003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="156" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjh7ATbV3HmddZOVPN2ucI-WtDDpjUu5AVcZi9cVqm63NPJXRz_5eDxH9B5j9bE1-DQXGZvNZ2fInXEZUUN4mEq18K48ZeVhTJbk_NbZg02jxnQYmYg8e42sBywVoEJJHhK5xxjzjWUwMdw/s320/personalized-mugs-collage-003.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Step 5.</b> Using the metallic paint, paint the handle of the mug, with haphazard brush strokes.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsSESR7ILhX8_JbwmLoj_NNHtQ81OuEbOG1ejGMx1JsDpRbCnl5Dhf5qvrmS7RsTQK8hQM2MGlkrl_yjs9Aj0vC-0DvwM9Ds4PIzR1VRd1EmFmi1Tz1AsRTIWCFQgjeFzUvC5hq0jFB7X4/s1600/personalized-mugs-012.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjsSESR7ILhX8_JbwmLoj_NNHtQ81OuEbOG1ejGMx1JsDpRbCnl5Dhf5qvrmS7RsTQK8hQM2MGlkrl_yjs9Aj0vC-0DvwM9Ds4PIzR1VRd1EmFmi1Tz1AsRTIWCFQgjeFzUvC5hq0jFB7X4/s320/personalized-mugs-012.jpg" width="278" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Step 6.</b> Spray with hairspray, to seal the paint, and VOILA! Two, lovely, gilded, personalized mugs.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFDZrYVA_b5JIuPFfQ20CownihyBjNFsdGlXFyDFThIoTppDXP-_4DsueK9bqU736G2N5pw7gVx2Ahi2egz1mOl2Irxhho1mlF5E0-oYwM_uIB0nQOsiGo3O8Pc0blysvU2HP8qTSDIKqX/s1600/personalized-mugs-013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgFDZrYVA_b5JIuPFfQ20CownihyBjNFsdGlXFyDFThIoTppDXP-_4DsueK9bqU736G2N5pw7gVx2Ahi2egz1mOl2Irxhho1mlF5E0-oYwM_uIB0nQOsiGo3O8Pc0blysvU2HP8qTSDIKqX/s320/personalized-mugs-013.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>

<br />
Thankfully, so far so good.<br />
<br />
Since I'm broke, for Christmas, I'm making gifts. For my dad, I'm making a scarf. It will by mostly white but with a set of three stripes at each end.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheZyNizaso0uT87cfXntZvh7796Z1ZDSXNO5e7KFOu0R213m0cQ3HyVjp7WWU0T8O99w-1KvKZ5U-PrFFJPj65LUUp9U6UhRaydXU9V_Lw-GkrEXhTCMTthk8g4-gyd0iliXieAdHWLoIu/s1600/scarf+pattern+2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="33" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheZyNizaso0uT87cfXntZvh7796Z1ZDSXNO5e7KFOu0R213m0cQ3HyVjp7WWU0T8O99w-1KvKZ5U-PrFFJPj65LUUp9U6UhRaydXU9V_Lw-GkrEXhTCMTthk8g4-gyd0iliXieAdHWLoIu/s320/scarf+pattern+2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I'm using 4 mm needles, and two different polyester yarns. I started by casting on 40 stitches.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd86L2W-mhTadyq3MhfzM-w1vmSeK5b5RWWeP06QCQIXNNXH8eno6UkXUSc56WG5D4hpelHzYq2qY6lj5ApG_pqUPTUcUZylviz6eQ2bZJi68wIp6KTjv_HwsTM511wpZWXMafZi_I_FGY/s1600/dad's-scarf-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgd86L2W-mhTadyq3MhfzM-w1vmSeK5b5RWWeP06QCQIXNNXH8eno6UkXUSc56WG5D4hpelHzYq2qY6lj5ApG_pqUPTUcUZylviz6eQ2bZJi68wIp6KTjv_HwsTM511wpZWXMafZi_I_FGY/s320/dad's-scarf-001.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<a name='more'></a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
(In case you don't know, the black strands hanging off of there are place markers. I placed them every 10 stitches to keep count)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I knit 5 rows with the white yarn, </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLUBbQJZkMZGyV3mrKBHXlCLtPW2Q16Duhu7-r9f0YW1nIeCFGwik9ZDYVElgcaJ3PVl3jMwuUc8emI8RIwzwPMmVXpsgGeIlYWgJ_voOANzOYc_suUoUMqs0VGSWC3SwKJ27hcdK4Dwsj/s1600/dad's-scarf-003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLUBbQJZkMZGyV3mrKBHXlCLtPW2Q16Duhu7-r9f0YW1nIeCFGwik9ZDYVElgcaJ3PVl3jMwuUc8emI8RIwzwPMmVXpsgGeIlYWgJ_voOANzOYc_suUoUMqs0VGSWC3SwKJ27hcdK4Dwsj/s320/dad's-scarf-003.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
then I switched over to the black yarn,</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH7bBsdRu8m2u6I0bw2ce0wAitjnUSkoUko5h4YJp6M-Z3XiHDwnMHf8ziYrjPcmnYU5WNa1S9tIKNRmWNJguNfkZN_kqOJkluMddx3rjiw-SFkgLk0dUpf7D2rKcHjGz-lBcUIwiSYodN/s1600/dad's-scarf-collage-001.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="128" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgH7bBsdRu8m2u6I0bw2ce0wAitjnUSkoUko5h4YJp6M-Z3XiHDwnMHf8ziYrjPcmnYU5WNa1S9tIKNRmWNJguNfkZN_kqOJkluMddx3rjiw-SFkgLk0dUpf7D2rKcHjGz-lBcUIwiSYodN/s320/dad's-scarf-collage-001.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
and knit 15 rows with that.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1Ttty7lH-aZ0W_rvgHPeX5rP7wKA30TRFSi1JlOBQd6hSn4I1lN60hVFjvyeVLuv1kdGofe4_h1ILkrUMlDnMZqLPkRVR2vH0FUtWNvn2omi-kylNGUgCUiwZd0gRjJARDE1VeXuJOFx6/s1600/dad's-scarf-collage-002.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="82" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh1Ttty7lH-aZ0W_rvgHPeX5rP7wKA30TRFSi1JlOBQd6hSn4I1lN60hVFjvyeVLuv1kdGofe4_h1ILkrUMlDnMZqLPkRVR2vH0FUtWNvn2omi-kylNGUgCUiwZd0gRjJARDE1VeXuJOFx6/s320/dad's-scarf-collage-002.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Back to white, and I knit 10 stitches, then 10 more in black.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr2f-mk_TTIQEPNm46tKoxHrhcsbB7S1FMOY0iLvRJ9PRsrLi6zoL6aL9z6SoBVCrn82M3Rcc4TDeqs3aNoLNXWJr-AxH1h2PeeQLrmt2oG0UFcfAdH8raF-o4cTWBCkhK5C1sb5TzbH8M/s1600/dad's-scarf-collage-003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="120" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgr2f-mk_TTIQEPNm46tKoxHrhcsbB7S1FMOY0iLvRJ9PRsrLi6zoL6aL9z6SoBVCrn82M3Rcc4TDeqs3aNoLNXWJr-AxH1h2PeeQLrmt2oG0UFcfAdH8raF-o4cTWBCkhK5C1sb5TzbH8M/s320/dad's-scarf-collage-003.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I then added another 15 rows in white, and and 5 rows with the black. From there on, it's all white until I feel like it's long enough to finish off. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This is how far I've gotten.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_G0zLAknJQhzJypAay3EPSCf1VnE82i40eHbhFISHMDtpE7f3d4sT7V787eYugrH3-5VBO_o_PvmWIjF3YnJlaTGkECcB2Hbx0xFgr_iThx0Hq7XzdugqLwtWkSMVF8Fsl1Y7q89Q4WGL/s1600/dad's-scarf-011.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_G0zLAknJQhzJypAay3EPSCf1VnE82i40eHbhFISHMDtpE7f3d4sT7V787eYugrH3-5VBO_o_PvmWIjF3YnJlaTGkECcB2Hbx0xFgr_iThx0Hq7XzdugqLwtWkSMVF8Fsl1Y7q89Q4WGL/s320/dad's-scarf-011.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I've got a looooonnng way to go. And so little time.</div>

<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
This dress is so super cute! And it's so comfortable to wear! Maybe that's because it's made out of t-shirts. T-shirts that I tie-dyed myself. I'm very proud of these t-shirts. I dyed them in a crinkle pattern. That's exactly what it sounds like. I crinkled up the t-shirts and applied the dye in a random pattern. </div>
<div>

<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But then I realized, when am I going to wear these? The shirts I had were too big for me, and tie-dye t-shirts really aren't my style. </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
But maybe a tie-dye dress would be.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Here's how I made it.</div>
<div>
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /></div>
<div>
<b>What you'll need:</b></div>
<div>
2 mens t-shirts, the same size, a few sizes bigger than would fit you snuggly. </div>
<div>
A sewing machine</div>
<div>
Thread matching the colour of the shirts</div>
<div>
Good scissors</div>
<div>
A measuring tape</div>
<div>
A pencil</div>
<div>
An iron</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Step 1.</b> Measure from the top of your shoulder to your waist, or where you want the waist of the dress to sit. If you have a larger bust, you'll want to measure your front and back separately. Add an inch to each of those measurements, for seam allowance. Mark these measurements on the first t-shirt and cut off the excess.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Step 2. </b>Cut off the sleeves and the collar. You can make the neckline as high or low as you want.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikllfcZXqv4rvoN1oY2G0YD8Fseu9aXyqwwDHjmSCRGd8tWSg8jdaIfWucygNLLqkozDrzKkdjiBImuzJTE4ntbq1WWSRRT6u-_vxKVEWDoOU67R2RohUfKCq2DOOjINb-Llt7Cxa_JWKZ/s1600/tie-dye-dress-008.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEikllfcZXqv4rvoN1oY2G0YD8Fseu9aXyqwwDHjmSCRGd8tWSg8jdaIfWucygNLLqkozDrzKkdjiBImuzJTE4ntbq1WWSRRT6u-_vxKVEWDoOU67R2RohUfKCq2DOOjINb-Llt7Cxa_JWKZ/s320/tie-dye-dress-008.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Step 3.</b> Measure the circumference of your waist. Add 4 inches. Then divide that number in half. Measure the waist of the t-shirt bodice. Subtract your measurement from that of the shirt. Divide that result in half. That's how much you need to cut off each side of the shirt's waist. Use the same method to ensure that the bust is the correct width. Mark both measurements on the shirt. You can take as many measurements and make as many marks as you need to to be sure that the bodice will fit.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Step 4.</b> After marking where the armpit of your sleeve will be, sew, with right sides together, from there to the waist. Use a zig-zag stitch to finish the seam and trim the excess. Press the seam to embed the stitches.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Step 5. </b>Now we're getting started on the skirt. Same idea. Measure from your waist to where you want the hem of the skirt to hit. (The shirt may not be long enough, but we'll deal with that in a second.) Again, add an extra inch to that number. Measure that length from the hem of the second shirt and mark a line. Mark as many lines as you need. Cut along those lines.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2bkjZXa_urggGpxuTTHqTtJJrHFPPPFjp-ctLC5PWMVaqfkqXwhQov30GUm8CEN9ieN6ippt6qUwgqWJo9DoPsSoqF-Imb4Z3Vesu3ZyvC1ciGRGpCzKgQxWNEQs5-BsBwESvw_WP2Zfx/s1600/tie-dye-dress-007.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi2bkjZXa_urggGpxuTTHqTtJJrHFPPPFjp-ctLC5PWMVaqfkqXwhQov30GUm8CEN9ieN6ippt6qUwgqWJo9DoPsSoqF-Imb4Z3Vesu3ZyvC1ciGRGpCzKgQxWNEQs5-BsBwESvw_WP2Zfx/s320/tie-dye-dress-007.jpg" width="239" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<b>*P.S.*</b> Also, measure your shoulders, from where you want the neckline to be to where you want the shoulder seam to sit. Cut the shoulders to fit, leaving an extra inch for the seam.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Step 6. </b>Time to gather the skirt. Make a running stitch along the top edge of the skirt, from one side to the other. Do this on the front and the back. Make second lines of stitching about a half inch below the first ones.</div>
<div>
Pull these stitches so that the fabric gathers. Pull until the waist of the skirt matches the measurement of your waist. Even out the gathers. Using a sewing machine, sew the gathers in place.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Step 7.</b> Slide the skirt inside the bodice, through the neck hole, so that the waist of the bodice and the waist of the skirt line up, with right sides together. With a straight stitch, sew them together. Finish the raw edge of the seam with a zig-zag stitch, trim the excess, and press.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Step 8.</b> The collar. An easy way t finish a neckline is by adding a collar. Use the piece you cut off of the first t-shirt as a stencil, to cut off the same size and shape from the leftover neckline of the second shirt. Then, figure out how wide you want your collar to be. Add 2 inches to that So let's say, a 4 inch wide collar, plus 2 inches. That means you'll cut 6 inches away from the neckline, all the way around. You can make a slit in the middle of the front, because that's how collars look anyway.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizjcGNBu_-cJM5pOCHiwMLkN81fOPcBRih2WF1Lgfm2E8o6Fd3Jg1djeVd_QdUhH_Lb_gpjBAeltn-90AbLtPDqEEj_MfL7V1lunMZWqLUmetOhhJRfFXdCcgiVH2UlYUsAOombKjtkoFk/s1600/tie-dye-dress-003.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizjcGNBu_-cJM5pOCHiwMLkN81fOPcBRih2WF1Lgfm2E8o6Fd3Jg1djeVd_QdUhH_Lb_gpjBAeltn-90AbLtPDqEEj_MfL7V1lunMZWqLUmetOhhJRfFXdCcgiVH2UlYUsAOombKjtkoFk/s320/tie-dye-dress-003.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Step 9.</b> Fold over the outer edge of the collar, and sew it closed. Do the same the slit in the middle.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Step 10.</b> Pin the collar inside the collar of the bodice, with the right side facing you. So not right sides together, not wrong sides together, but right side to wrong side. Sew the collar in place (remember to take the pins out as you go) and finish that edge.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Step 11.</b> Fold the collar over, so it now sits, visible, on the outside of the bodice. Press that in place with the iron, and sew, again, a half inch from the neckline, all the way around.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<b>Step 12.</b> Finally, the sleeves. Measure the armholes of the bodice, and then cut the leftover sleeves, from underneath, so that they match. You can shorten the sleeves as much as you want, or leave them the length that they are. sew the edges of the sleeve together, to make a "tube"".I made mine little cap sleeves. Then, right sides together, (with the sleeve folded over the shoulder) sew the sleeves to the bodice, and finish the edge. You can choose to finish the edge of the sleeves if you want. I chose not to. I liked the unfinished sleeve.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6nPKXMi9F2TCWako2qFHSkDfTXQNKnLboLdTofb1lEh5d-eV49pnUTcpHTQB2V_DyuWpj6uXgOarzCnPz4QHdOfkHPGpaYWPvGAUo5GAqDxkFrYwhgpIKzfSxF2f1_dXhtH4S9JTq9thT/s1600/tie-dye-dress-005.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi6nPKXMi9F2TCWako2qFHSkDfTXQNKnLboLdTofb1lEh5d-eV49pnUTcpHTQB2V_DyuWpj6uXgOarzCnPz4QHdOfkHPGpaYWPvGAUo5GAqDxkFrYwhgpIKzfSxF2f1_dXhtH4S9JTq9thT/s320/tie-dye-dress-005.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The cap sleeves did end up smaller than I would've liked, because, by then, I was tired and got lazy with my measurements. But I still like it.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I liked wearing this with a skinny belt, a cardigan, and my grey tights, with black shoes.</div>

My Wish List)I got the January issue of InStyle in the mail today!! Amanda Seyfried is on the cover. She looks a tad too photoshopped, in my opinion.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC_QW4LXek3JYRx-8yPPt9G_k_RnlXxsICwUIlPuRMfKJ4NkT3Wrc2hXPVG-O4_NozpiInKWzlXuUwzYL2ZkZvDnvnqZrbSVyqk_JB5VC3mWvlam5qX8XKwWr2VlkWToXdKMzybyQKFBC0/s1600/amanda-seyfried-collage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="215" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhC_QW4LXek3JYRx-8yPPt9G_k_RnlXxsICwUIlPuRMfKJ4NkT3Wrc2hXPVG-O4_NozpiInKWzlXuUwzYL2ZkZvDnvnqZrbSVyqk_JB5VC3mWvlam5qX8XKwWr2VlkWToXdKMzybyQKFBC0/s320/amanda-seyfried-collage.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
<br />
Her face, on the cover, just looks too... long? I don't know. maybe it's just me.<br />
<br />
Despite her computer-aided appearance, I do love the dress and shoes that she's wearing in that photo.<br />

<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
Oh, pardon me, the "dress" is a body suit with a skirt. Both by Chanel. The shoes are by Jimmy Choo. Unfortunately, I can't find photos of any online. Not that I could afford to buy them anyway.<br />
<br />
But I never plan to actually buy the exact items in these magazines. I use them as inspiration for my shopping and my sewing. Here are photos of some things that will be inspiring me this holiday season, and into the new year.<br />

And it sickens me. How someone could go into an elementary school and... He cannot have been in his right mind, that's for sure. <br />
<br />
What also sickens me is all the ignorant, selfish people who've been posting in forums and on facebook, about how everyone shouldn't be so upset over this. I actually read a post where a boy referred to the childrens' murders as them being (and I feel nauseous as I type this) "turned to salsa".<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
Some people have no hearts. Some people are just sick.<br />
<br />
My prayers and wishes are with all the families and friends, affected by this tragedy. Absolutely lovely! I got to sleep in, I got to eat a few french fries, and I had a wonderful dinner with my boyfriend, and my aunt and uncle. During said dinner, I was given gifts, I got to pet a cute doggie, and I got to watch a few episodes of The Carol Burnett Show.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
I wish I had photos of the tortellini my aunt made. It was so tasty! Although a fairly simple concept; tortellini covered in cheese.<br />
<br />
What really blew my mind was the desserts! My aunt is a fantastic cook and her baking is amazing too! She made shortbread cookies and mini mint-chocolate cupcakes, and (my favourite) a sort of pistachio-almond-chocolate-bark that my uncle has dubbed "Forest Floor"<br />

Remind me to get the recipe off of her, soon.<br />
<br />
Then, they surprised Cain and I with Christmas gifts! <br />
<br />
Cain was given little bundles of each of the desserts we'd just had. I can't wait for him to share with me.<br />
<br />
I got a lovely scarf that my aunt knit.<br />
<br />

<br />
<i><br /></i>
I think they're called "sashay scarves". I have no idea.<br />
<br />
But the gift I'm uber excited about is this!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<i><br /></i>
A book about the history of fashion! All the way from ancient Egypt and Greece, to the styles of 90's pop stars. There are even sections dedicated to different designers and different style icons throughout history. It's a perfect addition to my library of fashion and sewing books.<br />
<br />
And, being the animal lovers that they are, my aunt and uncle also got a gift for my puppy, Skyler. They gave her a tin of home-made doggie treats!<br />

<br />
<br />
Ok, I know it isn't even close to being spring yet, but I finally got around to looking at the Valentino Spring/Summer collection for next year, and I am in LOVE! I loved Valentino to begin with - the feminine shapes and florals and the girly class of it - and this collection has only perpetuated that affection!<br />
<br />
First, the opening look for the collection<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghT8VqHmDeQIm_VYqlN8iv4aySISrEnFuCyOEka_-In-eDllShadmmGdWz7_-NqkO6cHeUjl1QwCenuT29XWrz21XGF5-UTm8pkNviwmNQEnfE9rmfT_o1GtC3G1nuRn4CJ3X564M7QLH-/s1600/valentino-ss13-11.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghT8VqHmDeQIm_VYqlN8iv4aySISrEnFuCyOEka_-In-eDllShadmmGdWz7_-NqkO6cHeUjl1QwCenuT29XWrz21XGF5-UTm8pkNviwmNQEnfE9rmfT_o1GtC3G1nuRn4CJ3X564M7QLH-/s320/valentino-ss13-11.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
This is so simple, and so sexy; with the subtle cut-out lines that accent the models waist and long legs. The collection also included a nude version of this dress, and one in navy that fell all the way to the floor. I don't usually go for spaghetti straps, but I'd wear this in a heartbeat!<br />
<br />
<br />
<a name='more'></a><br /><br />
Next, colour! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihjcY5CxpFIhPi82TFPppjQJBJgaYgeywxoM81Gvaws037tR4k6T3n4J9PbaJhjXxa3o9380pVoMhmzXoAdnBNuyv1Zn4Mdm6mVRRRPODeCWmH-4JBoWAoW-6we5iLv4Abde7Q526-V_DP/s1600/valentino-ss13-01.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihjcY5CxpFIhPi82TFPppjQJBJgaYgeywxoM81Gvaws037tR4k6T3n4J9PbaJhjXxa3o9380pVoMhmzXoAdnBNuyv1Zn4Mdm6mVRRRPODeCWmH-4JBoWAoW-6we5iLv4Abde7Q526-V_DP/s320/valentino-ss13-01.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
This coat is so, luxuriously beautiful. That colour is probably, now, my new favourite colour. I love it. And I love the cut of this coat! It's flared and feminine but not overwhelming, either. I'd just want to wear this all day, every day, I don't care if it's 30 degrees celsius.<br />
<br />
Next, the black, sheer dresses.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqcxmt-_61upZil44UAmpOQybNVa9ujyengfMQWjxg44bRAVVsrCAMhTnr1wI2vJbmce6k5n658cBUoaBNaTKGcCilGD0kwSnDU7rfPpPUZZr_IGtOeaJ7uT2AYuY0OAR6JqaNMuIwydCA/s1600/valentino-ss13-02.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqcxmt-_61upZil44UAmpOQybNVa9ujyengfMQWjxg44bRAVVsrCAMhTnr1wI2vJbmce6k5n658cBUoaBNaTKGcCilGD0kwSnDU7rfPpPUZZr_IGtOeaJ7uT2AYuY0OAR6JqaNMuIwydCA/s320/valentino-ss13-02.jpg" width="212" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVii5NbPL0smN-qG2I_bEbV8sjomYlTQokouQViK5A27EiTNVWMKAau_doZ95GTuOYRueml8oMA9JJL1aT3mXbnAbMKPzFV6TQNfbe-elpNDPbxFBV6ZysWtulkPMpjDR9qZbOXVOdwPNz/s1600/valentino-ss13-03.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjVii5NbPL0smN-qG2I_bEbV8sjomYlTQokouQViK5A27EiTNVWMKAau_doZ95GTuOYRueml8oMA9JJL1aT3mXbnAbMKPzFV6TQNfbe-elpNDPbxFBV6ZysWtulkPMpjDR9qZbOXVOdwPNz/s320/valentino-ss13-03.jpg" width="212" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgepUSwQHmW7Vv40bnWB5xTbTPj_ZO1NxUYReM47CNUgs-NToETfYD7YLl4n8NZ0WAaSFx_kR18TCrlmsZRR0DvV4-4_Sxf_lUnlxfqm80ajF-mAt76jCXnQEqqHBRQ_kV8LdWv7MerXeZ9/s1600/valentino-ss13-06.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgepUSwQHmW7Vv40bnWB5xTbTPj_ZO1NxUYReM47CNUgs-NToETfYD7YLl4n8NZ0WAaSFx_kR18TCrlmsZRR0DvV4-4_Sxf_lUnlxfqm80ajF-mAt76jCXnQEqqHBRQ_kV8LdWv7MerXeZ9/s320/valentino-ss13-06.jpg" width="213" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
These dresses are so classic and so bewitching. They're so lady-like and demure, but still so sultry. I woulcn't know whether to complement them with colourful accessories, or to conserve their dark integrity by matching them with equally gothic pieces.<br />
<br />
What next? Oh yes! The white dresses!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
I love lace. I really love white lace. These white, lace dresses are so perfect. That's all I can say. And the first one? With the bib? Yes, I do think the bib concept is a tad weird, but on this dress, it just looks like a deep neckline with sheer lace over top. I love it.<br />
<br />
I can't wait to imitate some of these looks this spring, and maybe during the winter too - oooh! Brilliant plan! I'll shop for these kinds of looks during the winter so I'll be ready for when Spring comes! Why have I never thought of this before?KreativeEmmaKatehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04591407853125917227noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2164255798910059535.post-57808959928188888922012-12-05T17:28:00.000-05:002012-12-25T23:09:29.065-05:00Yoko Oh No!This post is about Yoko Ono.<br />
<br />
Now, being a member of the generation that I am, I don't really know all that much about Yoko Ono. I know that she dated John Lennon, apparently she kind of created a wedge between him and the rest of the band, and I know that she one posed for the cover of a magazine, being cuddled by her favourite, and very nude, Beatle.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Well, now I've learned one thing more about Yoko; she's insane! I made this conclusion based on the designs in her new line of menswear.</div>
